In addition to commonly requested Fair Housing topics, the amazing team at LASSD will also be presenting on Tenant’s Rights, or what tenant protections people have AFTER they have moved in.  We have received many questions about predatory landlords, and lots of concerned folks who want to make sure they know the law in order to advocate effectively.

Some topics we have requested LASSD cover during this training:

  • How should we educate and explain to our participants what their rights are as tenants?  What documents should we be providing them?
  • What should we be looking out for during an eviction process?  What is an eviction supposed to look like, and what are common areas that landlords might overstep?
  • Are there differences in tenant’s rights/laws in different parts of the county? Which laws are unique to specific cities, and what is county wide?
  • Are landlords allowed to deny a rental application based on poor credit when they are part of a program that will be providing rental assistance?
